Are we supposed to get them something AT ALL?!
Somehow, I feel like the answer should be yes. But I can’t figure out exactly what.
How about chocolates? Flowers? Teddy bears? Gift basket??
Everyone says “No” to any of these common V-day gifts that I suggest. “Those are for girls,” they always answer. Ok, so ignoring the double standards… what else can I get?! It’s not like I can go into a CVS and pick up a basket full of “somethings” and then check out, and then “Viola! Here you go, honey!”
So as a girl, should I just shrug and say, oh well, all the gifts are marketed towards gifting to women… so maybe I can play the “I didn’t know women were supposed to give guys things for V-day?” Maybe this holiday was more about guys being romantic and chivalric to women. And not vice versa? But I thought this was about celebrating love?
What would you do?
1. Stand on the theory that V-day is more when guys give pink and red gifts to girls. And girls don’t necessarily need to give gifts, they just have to participate in the celebratory efforts/activities.
2. Buy gifts (that are termed “girly”) for him.
3. Buy something similar to a Christmas or Birthday gift for him.
