This morning, as I was playing the keyboard for the church, I almost started crying when singing this song. Of course, I couldn’t, so I had to quickly redirect my thoughts and not get too immersed in the lyrics.
But this song just speaks so strongly and comforting. About fears, about God’s promises and His strength to get us through all this.
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
It’s so comforting to hear God say that He is my portion and that He has promised good to me, and I will be safe and be led home.
